       «Try to fly or fly to try» - 2002 -  Parc Saint Léger  - Centre d'Arts contemporain -  Pougues-les-eaux.

Video projection, 6 minutes, pair of ring-necked parakeets on a blue rope. Adhesive text on the wall, sand on the floor, open cage placed on the ground, bench-perch (birch seat), screen of white feathers (240 x 4.80 m).

Visitors are invited to enter (in pairs) the installation, after pushing open the wire mesh entrance door, to experience the birds' territory in slow motion and silence, before settling on the bench-perch and watching the video projection. Two green ring-necked parakeets

      greet the two visitors.

A 6 minute film is projected onto a screen of white feathers. A murmured and whistled refrain plays continuously. Visitors sit side-by-side on the bench facing the screen, gently swaying in a posture similar to that of birds balancing on a wire.

This seesaw bench forces users to find the precise point of balance to avoid falling. They thus find themselves in the same position as the birds, but with their backs to them. The film shown presents sequences of cloudy and blue skies. Then, with a loud crash, a woman falls, suspended by her feet from an elastic cord, and disappears again.

I dream of flying... The experience unfolds under the astonished gaze of the attentive birds, upside down, keeping their distance.
