Polyphonic Panoramic, winner of the 2011 Grand Prize from the Cité Internationale de la Tapisserie d’Aubusson, is a woven and sound-based architectural installation.
When the viewer enters the structure, a motion detector triggers a soundtrack composed of recordings of birdsong that have silently populated Aubusson tapestries since the 15th century, as well as whistled words. This sound and musical composition forms the basis of the cartoon that was woven to visualize what is heard, in the form of a generic spectrographic landscape.
