"Salon de Musique" - 2013 - La Tour de Bridiers - La souterraine.
Sound architecture, 12 wood panels hinged, rubber hinges, 3 speakers, sound device, soundtrack « chants du vent » loop, dim : 12.4 x 12.4 x 7.9 ft Base 13.1 x 13.1 x 0.5 ft
This sound sculpture/architecture installation consists of a modular structure of 12 panels (wood and rubber), a sound amplification system (speakers, amplifier, patchbay), and a wooden floor/base.
The "music room" is a space with variable dimensions. The 12 articulated panels allow the architectural form to be modified according to diagrams presented as drawings and plans. The resonances, reverberations, and acoustics are modified according to the architectural form. This "music room" folds and unfolds like carpets and tapestries that are rolled up and rolled during transport. This musical "architecture" allows for the "modulation" and definition of "territory" forms by moving from the second to the third dimension (from plan to elevation). On the ground, the module appears as a 12-section "carpet." Once raised, the module unfolds into 45 possible architectural configurations. The base/carpet transforms into an enveloping, immersive, and sonorous structure. The plywood panels are joined together by flexible rubber joints to allow for mobility.
The sounds played in the music room originate from the real-time amplification of wind noise captured by a microphone attached to the flagpole outside the exhibition space.
