"Phylactery" - 2014 - Exhibition Schoolgallery -

lead ribbon sculpture 10 m x 8 cm - white paint - punched holes - This lead phylactery, punched with Braille, unfolds on the wall as a suspended white ribbon. The visible punched holes correspond to the musical notes, transcribed in Braille, of a 24-second score.

The musical composition and score were created from recordings of the VEILE pulsar made at the Nançay radio telescope. The pulsar's vibrational frequencies were recorded for 24 hours and then translated into sound frequencies to capture the celestial body's "song." The musical score is a transcription of these recordings for four instruments: voice, percussion, bass, and guitar. The Braille melodic ribbon presents this score. It is visible but illegible to sighted people, and blind people cannot touch it due to the toxicity of the lead. The score therefore remains inaudible, invisible, and illegible, like the speech of angels.
